Coco
"The custom of chewing coca leaves has existed in the Andean region of South America since at least 3000 B.C." So why would you press the issue if that is the choice that is what they would like to do with there lives then so be it. "Today, millions of people chew coca in Bolivia, Colombia, Peru and northern Argentina and Chile. The coca leaf continues to have ritual, religious and cultural significance that transcends indigenous cultures and encompasses the mestizo population." Chewing coca leaves is not harming a soul. Is it being taxed? If it is shut up because you are getting paid. If it is appart of ones culture then who are you to take away someones freedom? But hey I am only a senior in high school, I don't know anything. "Why is Bolivia so concerned with the coca leaf? Because it is an important symbol of the history and identity of the indigenous cultures of the Andes." You be the judge.

You bring up an interesting point with taxation. I wonder if it were taxed, would that make it a more solid argument for legalization? But what about other cultural traditions that create a paradox?
